Istructed by the Central Committee of the CCP and Chairman Mao, the base of War of Resistance Against Japan, which Takes Maoshan as the central of southern Jiangsu , was found by the New Fourth Army in 1938. It is one of the earliest bases found by the Communist Party of China. It stands erect for a long time in enemy's heartland, has made the significant contribution for the victory in Sino-Japanese War and even the war of liberation.

　　In order to cherish the memory of the great achievements made by proletariat revolutionaries of older generation and educating posterity, authorized by the provincial party committee, Maoshan New Fourth Army Memorial Hall was build up in September, 1985, and in 1998, in the original hall site foundation, it was rebuilt.

　　The Maoshan New Fourth Army Memorial Hall is located in Maoshan Town, which is 25 kilometers away from the southeast of Jiangsu Jurong. Maoshan is the provincial level scenery scenic spot area of jiangsu Province.The present new hall covers the area of more than 16,000 square meters totally, the exhibition hall with more than 3,500 square meters has divided into five parts, showing more than 2,000 pieces of precious cultural relics and historical materials. It has reappeared the glory achievement and images of proletariat revolutionary in older generation like Chen Yi, Su Yu etc. Through the high tech method such as sound, light, electricity, multimedia and so on, the solemn and stirring scene which New Fourth Army and the southern Jiangsu people fought together has reappeared again.
